About Loaves and Fishes: Loaves and Fishes is a registered charity. We believe that all people should have access to an abundance of healthy food.  We launched our Food Recovery Program in 2012. The amount of food we source and distribute annually has increased from $800,000 worth in 2011 to $6,200,000 in 2020 thanks to our network of local, regional and national partnerships. Currently we provide an average of 120,000 pounds of food per month to individuals through our Nanaimo and Port Hardy Food Banks as well as supplying food, free of charge, to 100 other non-profits, food banks, schools and Indigenous Communities across Vancouver Island. In 2020 over 660,000 pounds of food valued at over $1,700,000 was gifted to these other organizations through delivery or collection from our central warehouse.
